Mangrove forests of Qeshm (Hara Forest)

This area is famous as the floating gem of the Persian Gulf. These forests with about 7500 hectares extent are located like a green stripe on the northwestern coasts of Qeshm Island and the northern strip of the Persian Gulf. This natural habitat, incredibly beautiful is full of shrubs of 3-6m in height. Harra is a halophytic tree and high tide is completely submerged and during low tide comes back out of the water. These forests float when the tide comes in and during low tide (6 -7 hours) become like dry regions. This tree due to cathartic dark is able to absorb water without solute and ward off other solutes. This extensive forest more than being beautiful is a safe habitat for tropical birds and other poultry. Don’t lose its nice sunset. Dancing of the trees under the water during tidal ebb and birds commuting during tide makes a wonderful scene to see. Animals like creeping fish and rare birds such as large Egret, Gilan Shah, Heron, fishing eagle, spoon tip, pelicans and flamingos, sea swallows crabs live in this area.
