Dasht-e Kavir

This is the largest desert of Iran which extends from the southern slope of Alborz to Central Iran. Its length is about 800 km and the width is about 600km. Much of it has vast lagoons, and at its edge, dunes and mountains are located. The vegetation is mostly salt-friendly plants. Some parks and smaller deserts are located in this desert, e.g. Kavir national park, Kharturan national park, Maranjab desert, Bande Rig desert…
